BETH A. ANDREWS joined Vandeveer Garzia, P.C. in 2018 after several decades in the practice of law at Garan Lucow Miller, P.C. Throughout her career, she has handled insurance defense law, litigating almost every type of tort and insurance coverage issue, encompassing the law of general negligence, construction, premises liability, municipal, Section 1983, product liability and automobile negligence. She has developed specialized expertise in the areas of indemnity, insurance coverage (especially complex general liability coverage matters) and construction accident litigation, as well as the topical areas of Michigan tort reforms, the no-fault third-party tort threshold, choice of law, uninsured motorist coverage and electronic discovery. She has practiced in the circuit and appellate courts of Michigan and in the U.S. District for the Eastern District of Michigan and is admitted to practice before the U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court.
Ms. Andrews has presented seminars for many groups, including Michigan’s Institute for Continuing Legal Education (ICLE) as well as for numerous insurers and their claims personnel. Lecture topics have included tort reform, seatbelt issues, the Michigan no-fault third-party threshold for recovery of noneconomic damages and the redacting and discovery of claims files. In addition, she has authored many seminar outlines for herself and others, including those used to train local trial judges on issues relating to tort reform.
She is a longstanding member of the State Bar of Michigan’s practice sections on Negligence, Appellate and Insurance and Indemnity Law and Michigan Defense Trial Counsel Association (MDTC). For many years, she was a member of the Michigan Defense Research Institute (DRI), for which she authored a book chapter on Michigan law. She has achieved the highest possible rating from Martindale-Hubbell of AV Preeminent.
During Operation Iraqi Freedom, Ms. Andrews spearheaded the collection, transportation and distribution of many tons of personal care and recreational items for the American troops stationed abroad.
